Thur 9:12pm — Hope y’all had / are having a nice Thanksgiving!
As I sit here on the couch in the dark watching Sesame sleepy time videos with the king I’m thinking about all the things I’m thankful for.
1) I’m thankful for Kyle. The King. He lights up my life and makes every day very interesting….
2) I’m thankful for my wife who is the strongest, strangest woman I’ve ever met…
3) I’m thankful for my family who all “get it” and who are almost all
within a 90 minute radius of us. Whenever we complain about the weather, or the schools, or the services, or the taxes by us we always remember that the main reason we stay in this part of the world is to have all our families around us. Even if we don’t see them all every day or even every month it just feels like a warm security blanket to know that they are all around. And that they’ve got our backs.
4) I’m thankful that I have a job that “gets it” and is so EXTREMELY flexible with my home life situation…even when they might not know just how bad my situation is sometimes.
Need to take off a morning to make a dr appointment, no problem.
Need to work from home to attend a meeting at Kyle’s school, no problem.
Sometimes I bitch & moan about it quite a bit, but it fits my situation to a T. I’ll be there 20 years in May 2014 and for the most part it feels like they’ve got my back.
5) I’m thankful for you guys!! I’m thankful for this crazy Autism Daddy community that I’ve patched together. I’m so thankful that I’ve got a place to rant & vent when I need to…and to celebrate the little things when I want to…
And I love having almost 22,000 people who “get it” and have my back. (Well most of you)

It still humbles me on a daily basis that people want to hear what a middle aged white dude from the suburbs of NYC has to say about his life with his wife and his son with severe autism.
And the fact that my rants and words seem to be helping so many is amazingly awesome. And the fact that my writings are reaching every corner of the globe blows my mind on a daily basis.
(big shout out to Australia! I seem to have TONS of followers from down under)

Anyway there’s tons more I am thankful for but these are the first 5 that popped in my head. So there’s nothing earth shatteringly great or profound about this post, just a simple little Thanksgiving Day post…
But tomorrow I’ll be back to my regular bitching and complaining and ranting self but for tonight I’m extremely thankful.
Good night all. It’s now 9:34pm and Kyle is sleeping on the couch next to me. Time to carry him up to bed.

I am thankful for finding this blog. Live outside Pittsburgh and the wife has quite a few Autism Moms that she is great friends with and they are an outstanding support group. Me on the other hand, typical man, just bottle it up and truck on. I book marked you and will come back knowing that I am not alone when I am feeling depressed, angry, frustrated, happy, content, worried, and the million other feelings a father of an ASD child experiences.

I am an Autism Daddy as well. It's good to know and feel that you are not alone. Also, that we experience the same "roller-coaster ride" we call "life as an Autism Parent". Thanks for sharing.
