You Asked, I Answered! The 12 Best Questions From My Live Video Q&A

(originally written & published on February 21, 2014)

Hey guys,

var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-25522671-1’]);
_gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]);

(function() {
var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true;
ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’;
var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();

So on Sunday February 16, 2014 I grabbed a beer and a bag of popcorn, put on my KISS tshirt, hoodie, and my 99cent store shades and  did a live Video Q&A on Google + and youtube.

As you can tell I was going for the Unabomber look to protect my anonymity 🙂

I answered your questions for about 65 minutes…

You can watch the whole thing here.

But I also took the liberty of chopping the best questions and answers into little bite size nuggets for you… So here you go…

1) What are your thoughts on Marijuana / Cannabis / CBD Oil as a treatment for epilepsy and/or autism?

2)Why don’t you use your Autism Service Dog more?

3) How much popcorn do you buy in a month?

4) What do Kyle’s seizures look like?

5) Do you ever let Kyle bounce on his ball and listen to music for like an hour?

6) Has he always sat for TV shows & How did you teach him to use a tablet?

7) Thoughts on meds for asd kids?

8) How do you & wife keep the spark alive? And how do you survive family functions?

9) How you keep a strong relationship despite the “chaos”?

10) You always seem so calm. Do you ever lose it?

11) How do you deal with violent tantrums, not meltdowns?

12) Any trampoline or furniture recommendations for destructive asd kids?  🙂

That’s it…
Those were the top 12 questions I got… Hope you enjoyed my rambling…  Looking forward to doing another one real soon

If you’re gonna shop Amazon anyway, can I ask that you enter Amazon by using the search box above?  This way I can make a little money.  This blogging thing has been awesome & life changing for me… but I must admit that it’s taking up a lot more time than I ever thought… so if I can make a few bucks it’ll make it easier for me to justify….Love you all! Thanks!!

I’m a 48 year old neurotypical dad with a 14 year old son with severe, non-verbal autism & epilepsy. I created this blog to rant about autism & epilepsy while celebrating my son who I affectionately call “the king” :-).

    This was so helpful to see! Thank you for being so candid. I can relate to a lot of what you're saying, and it means so much to find someone else "like us," who can be real about it. Our friends are amazing, but I think they tire of hearing us talk about it (and we tire of trying to relate it to everyone). We have to do the same thing with meltdowns (locking in a safe room for a time), and did remove most of our daughter's furniture. I can go on and on and on about the ways in which I can relate to what you said, but I just wanted to say thank you again. Really, thank you.

    I had different idea of what you looked like based on your blog. I thought you looked like a young Ringo Starr with the shades on.

    I am sorry, but this is crazy. The KISS question was definitely in the top 5. BTW , you answered wrong. You said #1 Love Gun, # 2 KISS Alive 2. The correct answer for the number one KISS album would have KISS Alive 1, KISS Alive 2, or Destroyer

  6. I over my ball to bounce on an weighted blanket .just wondering why you are allways in shades an stuff noboy can see you
