You Asked, I Answered! The 12 Best Questions From My Live Video Q&A

(originally written & published on February 21, 2014)

Hey guys,

So on Sunday February 16, 2014 I grabbed a beer and a bag of popcorn, put on my KISS tshirt, hoodie, and my 99cent store shades and  did a live Video Q&A on Google + and youtube.

As you can tell I was going for the Unabomber look to protect my anonymity :-)

I answered your questions for about 65 minutes...

You can watch the whole thing here.

But I also took the liberty of chopping the best questions and answers into little bite size nuggets for you... So here you go...

1) What are your thoughts on Marijuana / Cannabis / CBD Oil as a treatment for epilepsy and/or autism?

2)Why don't you use your Autism Service Dog more?

My Page Is Too Happy You Say? Well Let Me Tell You Some Excruciating Stuff aka My Kryptonite

(originally written & published on February 15, 2014)

Sometimes I have writer's block and don't know what to write about on my blog and then other times blog posts fall into my lap from the heavens or from comments from my Autism Daddy Facebook Page readers...

Twice this week I got comments that my page was painting things in too rosy a picture.

Earlier this week I posted a pic of my desk at work and wrote how happy I was to be back at work after a snow day stuck at home with Kyle and wifey ... and an autism dad named Jimmy commented saying things like... "this page is not realistic...  You're sugar coating things... you are in denial... my asd son is 30 and it gets harder... beware of what's ahead...ete, etc, etc..."

How Finding An Old Toddler Toy Shows Progress & Growth In My Autistic Son

(originally written & published on February 9, 2014)

Sometimes progress isn't measured from one week to the next. And sometimes it's not even noticed or appreciated for years.

I find myself noticing progress and how far the king has come when I see a toy or an item from Kyle's old days.

That's what happened here...

A few weeks ago Kyle was playing in his playroom and wifey opened the closet in there to get something.

Autism & Epilepsy: I Gotta Stop Googling Looking For Miracles & Disasters

(originally written & published on February 7, 2014)

I'm not sure what this post is about yet.  This is gonna be like one of those Autism Daddy posts from the old days that were long and rambling and went off on tangents.  I hope you can keep up...

Anyway here goes...

I was just thinking back this morning, remembering how nervous I was for Kyle to get the VNS Surgery for his epilepsy this past spring & summer.   (If you don't know about his VNS Surgery read this)

The reason I was nervous?  I started googling & up came lots of horror stories about botched operations, vocal paralysis, kids who's seizures got worse / more frequent, all scary

Video of Kyle showing off his new fine motor skills!

Here's a quick video from a tonight at 7:30pm of the king playing a game on his iPad.

What's AWESOME about this video is how he's rocking the pointing and the fine motor skills and I'm pretty sure he knows his left from his right.

These are all HUGE new accomplishments for his majesty.

The name of the app is called "Toddler Marine Preschool"

Wifey thought he likes aquariums and he needs toddler apps so she found it by searching for "toddler aquarium"

Yay toddler apps!

Yay wifey!  Good job!

Yay Kyke!  Awesome job!!

That is all. The end.

(boy his hands look big in that video!!  I couldn't tell a few times when it was my hand or his!)

3 random observations during a Sat lunch out...

Sat 12:25pm -- The king is currently in music therapy til 1pm. We just had lunch here downstairs before his class...

Some random observations from his lunch...

1) he for the first time ate a pretzel rod with Laughing Cow cheese on it. He likes both but never had them together. Two different textures. First he sucked the cheese off. Then he took a bite of pretzel with mushy cheese on it. Don't think he liked it. But he tried it!

2) why do I get so crazy sometimes?  I was following him around trying to get him to eat the last bite of banana. And I found myself getting stressed out. And then I thought "what am I doing? he ate enough for lunch already. let it go jerky...calm down" and I did and I ate the last bite of banana.

3) it's amazing how much easier the after lunch cleanup is on mom & dad when there's no popcorn involved. Usually we're on our hands and knees here picking up popcorn kernels off the floor for 5 minutes. Today he had his popcorn in the minivan before we got here. And today's lunch consisted of pretzels, laughing cow cheese, chocolate pudding, and 7/8ths of a banana... EZ BREEZY CLEANUP!
